by | Jul 19, 2021 | 0 comments

Employers are reminded of the directive published on 15 July 2021, extending UIF C19 TERS from 16 March 2021 to 25 July 2021. The scope remains limited to specified sectors listed in the annexures, but can be very beneficial to those who qualify.

The benefits, which employers can apply for retrospectively, are available to the following employees:

  1. Employees who have been on temporary lay-off or reduced work time within those sectors that have not been able to operate due to Covid-19 restrictions (A list of affected sectors is provided); and
  2. Employees in all sectors –

(a) who have been required to self-isolate or quarantine to prevent the spread of Covid-19

(b) aged 60 and above and who could not be reasonably accommodated in the workplace

(c) with co-morbidities and who could not be reasonably accommodated in the workplace

The alternative option of the UIF (reduced work time) benefit remains available to employees who are on temporary lay-off or reduced work time, but who do not qualify for C19TERS benefits.
